As to Mumtaz Mahal’s death in child birth: giving birth was a real concern to women, and most knew that there was a very likely possibility that they could die in the process. Mahal is certainly not unique in dying during child birth, just one example is Princess Charlotte of England, who died giving birth to a son.
I was unaware that he killed her previous husband. I believed they were engaged when very young (was she not 14?). May I asked which source you got this from?
